If I didn't have a dog...

If I didn't have a dog... ..

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, car and furniture would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money (and no guilt) to go on a real vacation. I would not be on a first-name basis with numerous veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE. My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers. My house would not look like a day care center, with toys everywhere. My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E-E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, R-I-D-E, G-O.I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside. I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!

Even the muscles in my toes hurt...

I am going to start this by saying every fucking muscle in my body is in pain, and my spirit is a bit bruised and battered and exhaustion has set it for the night. After this weekend, I must confess, I couldn't complete the entire class schedule. I was really hard on myself at first but decided the experience was more than worth it. The choreo kicked my ass, but I managed to learn most of Gil Duldulao's first combo with out feeling like a total spaz, then....I entered the class of Brian Friedman. This guy bulldozed so fast through the combo, I fell flat on my ass, and in my defeat, sat and watched from the sidelines with my tail between my legs...sad days. The light...entering the class of Wade Robson, the God of all things dance, was a total inspiration to watch and learn from. He has a way of teaching that made even a dancer of my limited ability feel as if I could somewhat keep up and learn something, so not a total epic failure there.

I learned that dancing is not for the faint of heart. I was most certainly challenged way beyond my physical and emotional abilities. Let just say I have always had mad respect for the work and dedication it takes to become a dancer of that caliber, however, my time for that kind of commitment has passed. Oh to be 25 years younger..I bailed after 2 classes today and had to come home to a Epsom salt bath and a long nap...I have learned that when the body says enough...listen!

The highlight of the weekend, Bollywood West found their voice on the Pulse Stage! We killed it! I can't wait to see the video, we actually had real lighting and with our dazzling costumes and all that glitter, it felt like being in a Bollywood movie. Jai Ho!!

That's about all my Ginko deprived brain has for output at this point...I am really fried over easy and my yoke is broke!

Let the challenge begin...

As this week comes to a close, I find myself not only exausted but all a twitter for the upcoming weekend festivities. This weekend Bollywood West, the performing troupe to which I am a member, will be participating in The Pulse on Tour. For those not in the know, The Pulse is a series of dance workshops from the top choreographers in the country; Dave Scott, Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Chris Judd, just to name a few. The old me would have been freaked out about being in the presence of "Dance Royalty", however this time, I can only feel extremely blessed for chance. Not only will I be learning from the these amazing choreographers, Bollywood West will be rockin' that stage along with many other amazing dancers in the area!

I plan on documenting each day of this event as I remember it...this will most certainly be a challenge for a dancer like me, however, I feel I'm up to it! If I do fall flat on my face, at least I tried...I have to give it up for Renu for giving all of us the opportunity to study with this amazing group! Our final rehearsal is tonight...look out Denver, Bollywood West is going to find their voice!

Chak de!

Now that I have reached an age where my life is running at a steady speed of 100 mph on a daily basis, I have decided to start this tabloid of my life. I have never been one to have a wonderful memory of all things past. I am not sure if this is due to my innate ability to block out unsavory memories of life or the simple fact that I don't get enough Ginko. This is not a chronicle of the past but a look through my spyglass to the future. Who knows what will transpire here, only time will tell...
